What is going to happen? Are they just going to talk about the VP project? Or is it a big Q & A session?

Comment by The Shiznit on July 11, 2012 at 4:17pm

@Matthew - yeah, I have to admit that I have not really been a huge proponent of the VP myself, to date -- mostly because I've always viewed the whole thing as being extremely Utopian and idealistic, and not something that could be easily implemented on a large scale any time in the near future.  I do, however, see it as somewhat of an inspirational vision for the future, and an organization that we could all learn a few things from.

Thanks for your input.

oh! and the last link that I provided above was to archived recordings of previous seminar sessions.  ;-)

Had a look here to see what it was about

Sounds like a great project indeed.. I never knew something like this existed. I'm really interested now. (not in this event but the project itself) But, I know there's a lot of problems in the way of convincing people from different countries, against their kind of.. xenophobia, and their nationalism.

I'm really doubtful that anything major in terms of 'an ultimatum: paradise or extinction' will have a real foundation-shaking effect on our society within the next few decades but the research they've done would be interesting to learn about.

I'd love to, but I'll be in Stavanger Norway exploring fjords that day.

"Absolutely, I completely agree. The only way to solve the problem is to eliminate the cause. Exactly, the shooter gains worldwide fame over night. Why would a resentful, friendless, lonely, insane young man who wanted to leave an impression on the…"

Nathaniel Mortazavi replied to Lore's discussion Condemning others to validate ourselves.
"I agree with the principle to an extent. However, in the case of school shooters, I don't think it can be justified. Same with rape. There's definitely a line, but like you said, those are the most extreme cases. On the topic of mass…"
