if it really was music and you could hear it... but it's more like chaotic noise.  Sounds like the absence of "god" to me.  I don't know why scientists even bother to try to use the word god.  It's unnecessary.  We just need some kind of atheistic conversion ritual or something. 

People want their lives to be branded too.  They don't want you to peel off the exterior layers of meaning and strip it down to cold calculating measurements.  They don't want it nude and straight out of the factory.  They want their origin stories and the rest of the fabric to keep them warm, to shield them from the paralyzing grandness of chaos.  I've heard some people requesting for "alternate stories."  I think people need help knowing how to appreciate and to recognize beauty in a world that is no longer dictated and superimposed with others' delusions and demands.

How do you expect your limited senses, and our limited technology to detect the totality of  the Multiverse and whether or not it is indeed music or chaos.  Order emerges out of chaos, this is a fact, as you are clearly a being of harmony, and not chaos.  People seek origin stories and explanations for existence because merely quantifying everything doesn't capture the experience.  It explains how, and not why.  Maybe there is no why, but our brain is hardwired to answer theses questions which begs the question...Why?  We intuitively know that there is more than meets the eye to this reality, and I'm sorry but it is impossible to reduce everything down to the cold calculating measurements.  Even if we can come up with a grand unification theory, and are able to predict and explain everything, you still cannot measure our experiences.  You may be able to view what area of the brain lights up when we feel love, but that does not mean it says anything about the experience.  

The problem with theology is we have brought our animal nature into our theologies and philosophies and instead of keeping open minds we present ideas as self proclaimed absolute truths and then try to impose these truths on each other.  The view of the dictating God is an ancient one, and quite clearly needs to be let go of, but denying the possibility of a higher creative consciousness in the Universe is shutting yourself off, and declaring you know absolutely there is no such thing.  This view point is just the opposite polarity of fundamentalist peddling their narrowed holy doctrine, and just as constructive.  If you want to reduce your existence to nothing more than unconscious and predictable forces unfurling in a vacuum that is your choice, but I would say that you are robbing yourself of how profound your existence is.

thanks for your reply.  I don't mind considering the possibility of there being a "why" to all of this.  But even if there is, discarding the old concept of "god" would be helpful.  I liken it to a realization that the lens in your binoculars is faulty and replacing it with a truer lens.  These new lens have less hallucinations and thus may be less entertaining to some.  It seems to afford us only why-less details in high (or ever clearer) detail.  I think we should put the god theory on the shelf at least.  The rapid results from the enlightenment and science are still playing out.  It seems like our only option is to hold our breath for the time being, because the story so far is almost purely mathematical.  We're still trying to understand all the rules in the game manual and the code behind it. 

You say it is in our nature to pursue the "why," but I think it's a strain of culture that just survived beyond the stoics.  I have a suspicion that the question of "Why" in itself is already the "wrong" (for lack of better word) question.

You seem to have a pretty good understanding. You're really close. Just keep learning. The more you learn, the more you expand your consciousness and are better able to wrap your head around the big ideas.

I personally define God as consciousness of any sort, and do believe there are conscious states that are higher than we are aware of.  Some may say then, "well then are you saying I am god?".  I would say yes, but an analogy would be that there is non-local consciousness that could be seen as white light or God, and individuals would be like this light has passed through a prism and you are a individual "color" or frequency of light.  

If you want to look at it through string theory, the mind of God is the totality of harmonizing vibrating energetic strings that permeate all ten dimensions which is held in the 11th.  We still have quite a ways to go in understanding consciousness and how it works, but it is quite apparent that there are lower and higher states of consciousness.  We merely have to look at the animal kingdom to confirm this.  One might say that evolution is the long march from lower to higher states of awareness, and higher awareness comes with higher complexity and higher frequencies of electromagnetic waves acting in harmony.  It appears right now that the brain has no center for consciousness and it is more of an electromagnetic field.  Viewed this way, then all things that generate electromagnetic fields contain a state of subjective consciousness, that is part of a whole.  As it turns out, nearly everything generates electromagnetic fields, so all of existence in the Universe are different expressions of the conscious state.  That's just me, and I am still learning, but now you have my two cents.
