"C=hf is a fundamental mathematical equation" - Reese

E=hf, if C = hf then C = E.

Consciousness IS energy.

C=mc^2

C(phi) = Hamiltonian(phi)

Delta(C)Delta(t) > h/2

Ckinetic = 1/2mv^2

delta(C) = work

So on and so forth...

Consequentially if consciousness IS energy then everything is conscious! Wait a minute... No, that can't be right. I am fairly certain this pen in front of me isn't conscious, nor the chair I'm sitting or the computer I am typing with. Maybe they are conscious but at such a low level we can't detect it! I mean, I am and use more energy then my computer, my pen, or my chair. So maybe things that require and contain more energy are conscious. Wait a minute... No, that can't be right, I mean look at the sun and the energy it contains, uses, and produces on a daily bases yet it is not conscious. So C = hf huh?

1. How do you know the sun isn't conscious, in terms of energy, far beyond anything which you or I can comprehend...?  I'm guessing though it doesn't use this energy to "think" or "feel" like we do, just give off heat and move.  That's all it needs to do, just like us, it's surviving in it's own atmosphere and in effect, helping us in ours :)  Natures kind of a win/win when working in harmony, or so it seems.

2. I remember learning in high school about this thing called "potential energy".  The energy stored in a solid object such as a rock.  Could you be talking about this?

1. It isn't my job to provide evidence the sun is conscious. Extraordinary claims need extraordinary evidence; burden of proof isn't on me.

If you call the sun conscious then it will be a very slow conscious.

No information can travel faster than light-speed, so the fast reaction time of the sun would probably take a few days.

1. Consciousness is a state and requires some array of specialized units(cells) to be able to quantify,transmit,and organize information. Self awareness emerges from the sophisticated network of neurons in the brain. As far as we know. The sun does not have any way of attaining this. It's a nuclear furnace,that's it.
1st Law of Thermodynamics has what to do with consciousness??

Well think about it, brain waves can already be measured in hertz http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2004/SamanthaCharles.shtml

Couldn't we now plunge microscopically into say a pen, see the actually atoms that the pen consists of, and measure the frequency of the energy stored or given off by those atoms? I'm not to sure...

Now these objects may give off such a low frequency vibration, because remember everything is just made up essentially of vibrating atoms and molecules, that we can't detect "consciousness" (and why would a pen even need consciousness?, it would be pointless and beyond the purpose of a pen).  But...hang on, wait, no that's just fully changed what "consciousness" actually is, or do we still not know what it is?  Ok now I'm lost.

Brain waves aren't the causality of consciousness as far as we know and just because we measure it in a unit of energy doesn't make it equivalent to consciousness itself. Like I said, the sun doesn't give off low frequencies and yet no one has ever even proposed it may be conscious, because guess what it doesn't display sentience. Maybe the universe is just plotting a huge conspiracy?

Hey Jarod, don't you love it when you try to prove a theory as false by putting a mumbo jumbo consequence as an example, and people just take that mumbo jumbo as truth?

You can't win against unproved pseudo-science, even if you know more physics than all of us commentors combined, get over it and enjoy the lulz.

I hope nobody gets pissed with my comment, but seriously guys, the sun being conscious is as probable as lizard aliens travelling through space. Which is possible, but not worth debating it.

Would a missile thrown at the sun by us cause a reaction from it?  Even an asteroid, does it cause a reaction? Does this make the sun conscious or "just reacting to the environment"? Is the sun aware of this reaction? Who knows, maybe theres a semi-sub-conscious level that causes that reaction in the sun, and any object trading energy with another for that matter....?
I think it's blatantly obvious the sun isn't conscious... Nor is my pen.
And the mumbo jumbo detector strikes again xD

if this theory is correct i will eat my own head.

every god damn theory has been explained but only one, what happens to "information" when it enters a "black whole", that is the question that some of the greatest scientists on earth have been trying to solve for many years, one scientist "steven hawking")spellcheck), answered this question in the 60's when he said that all information is lost once it enters a "black whole" where time stands still and the laws of physics break down,  it took one physicist 20+ years to prove him wrong that information is not lost but yet not being able to explain what actually happens at the center of a "black whole', this is the biggest pazzle that has buffled scientists for many years and thus far no physicist has come up with an answer  yet.

Physicists believe that once they are able to answer these questions they have the theory of everything.

and this equation makes absolutely no sense at all as far as solving the theory of everything but I admire their efforts.

dealing with trolls

yesterday it was the eurovision song contest.I went into a newspapers internett site (dagbladet if anyone is interested) and saw they had a forum for discussing the results (the results where coming in at the time). much of the forum was covered with the comments of two people, both trolls, one in norwegian and one in english. they where claiming that norway lost because we sent an immigrant to the finals (the guy was born in Iran but came to norway when he was just over 1 yrs old), and other…See More
