Hello guys, I'm brand new to I POWER and look to become an active member. I was 'storming' through some possibilities of this to write about, and this came to mind.

I have two hundred plus days of /played time on World of Warcraft. I my characters name is "hunteralex" and i am on the US server "Area 52." Aside from that my parents bitch and yap at me all day long. I am fourteen, a dedicated, non-noob/scrub/pleb player. My parnets will holler at me saying "Your wasting your life on that game, go do something constructive like play football." This honestly pisses me off very much. My parents are asking me to step away from doing something that has become part of my life "Which is World of warcraft" a.k.a. A GAME to go play something 'worthwhile' such as football?!?! I am 110 pounds and 6 feet tall. I have no health problems and I am obviously not obese, yet i get yelled at day in and day out about playing on my computer. I play world of warcraft, I work on artistic talent with photoshop (you can see my pictures I made by going to my profile), Diablo 2, Counter-Strike Source, and a few other things. My mom has came into my room, or even at the dinner table will ask "What are you doing up there? Slaying 'dragons' with your sword?" and my father acts like I am playing dungeons and dragons, saying all sorts of shit I can't even understand. If you're like this please post a reply, because it's just so frustrating. I do everything for them like pass school, clean my room, mow the lawn, help move things, run up to one of the many restaurants to pick up food (on my bike). I don't even get paid for it, yea, no allowance.
The one and only thing I ask of them is my monthly WoW fees, rest I buy, like my thousand dollar laptop. I saved up 2 years to get it from my old PC. Anyways, comment back, hope you enjoyed the post.

It is sad that that is mostly true.
I played WoW for... well.. the ever-so interesting and growing "world" of Warcraft.

Material gamers are pathetic usually, but there goals and "aspirations" can easily be
compared to a professional football player's.
The football player is treated as "right" because he's the sellout who gets paid cash for his
worthless achievements and because it brings entertainment to people who oddly marvel at them, and or the game.
The football player and the hardcore materialistic WoW player are very similar if you didn't catch it there.

Neither are really all that right. Video Games are sports now.

Both can ruin you physically due to the bad habits [and this is extremely common in sports like Football],
both are about leaderboards, and worthless materialistic desire.
Professional football is for worthless cash since they could lose it all in an hour to contract status with corporate frauds, and virtual money which is... virtual. Both of their benefits are almost entirely virtual.
Woopy, you've become a muscle head, that's so not really important in the modern world, and you have a 40 million dollar contract, and it's not even yours and is more like a big loan that they'll take from you as soon as you get boring. =P
Woopy you've gained your epic flying mount and you've finished Ulduar three times on the hardest mode.

Both of these goals and aspirations reward you some ego, some worthless popularity and virtual benefits.

Both are horrible. [/sigh]
Don't put your life on the games... go out there, you never know what the outside world holds for you:

I had trouble with my parents as well. Video games weren't that popular when I was a kid. Well they were but there was no way of me getting one, and since my parents were so obsessive with was right and wrong. Always afraid, always cautious and shy.

For several years I tried to make two deaf and blind people that I was nice and interesting to see and hear.
I realized that reasoning with them was pointless, so i simply coped with the issue all throughout, stuck to their rules...to a certain extent. Finished high school early, had no money for college. Joined the military, made it far in the ranks, got recommended for Spetsnaz. Didn't make it too far there...
Came to the U.S. to escape my problems, as any other immigrant would, in search of a better future. Found new problems here. Went to community college, got a scholarship, and now I'm studying in a real college, work on my freetime, made new friends and am somewhat happy.

All in 24 years :)
This is weird coming from a hardcore gamer (meaning im always playing games) but on games 24/7 is wrong and you should live ur life cause for example:

i played w0w for like 2 years i wasted a year on w0w so ill never be 14 years old again i missed out on many things in my life and when time goes on ill be a adult and ill be saying to myself ''was it worth it''.

so playing games is good and bad if u have to ask me you should play games in moderation.
I look down on alot of these coments and im like wow :-p. Imo do what u have to do hey your 14 go have fun with ur friends and do wat u got to do to get by in the world. Eventually you will have to go to college/get a job/ get an apartment and all shit like that. Probably in the long run ppl will just say hey ur wasting your time but i've played wow for the past 3 years and it had its ups and downs but in the end i enjoy it no matter what people will say. One thing i have to say is do wat u got to do and don't let WoW control your life ( Prob where ppl were coming from). Now that i said that, I have tons of friends that play wow and that don't but 1 thing that we all have in common is that we have things we enjoy that one thing that WILL take up your time. Either it will be WoW, Madden or just getting high :-p we as humans will yearn for something to entertain ourselves . As an end note, Get a gf , do good in school B or higher (Helps you out in 4 years w/ college), Hang out with friends and what u do in the time u still have left do wat u want as people will say its a waste of time but so isn't alot of things (200+ days isn't good tho :-p yet again idk how much i have).

And as for getting ur parents off ur back there really is no answer as each family is different and if its something you enjoy doing they are the ones who have to adjust so talk to them about it (w/o ne arguements :-p) and if you can tell them how u feel great if they don't understand... Its your life

GoGo photoshop
i used to log alota hours on wow every day too. but once i was at 80 for awhile i got pretty bored with it and i simply stopped playing altogether. i think its pretty good that that happened though cause now i spend alot more time reading, practicing music and etc. i'm becoming a better person through those type of various activities so i would recommend limiting your wow time or something. i think you will be happy you did in the long-run, maybe even in the short-run.

anyway gl with all that ;)
