Most of you regular members know by now that we introduced a new feature to the site recently - a new page where we can embed livestreams from various places on the web.  And we had a very successful trial run with it a few days ago by embedding Chiren & Reese's livestream session in which they gave a preview of their newest video on Consciousness and answered viewers questions about it.

Add-in Edit for clarification:  The link to the new "LiveStreaming Now" page will only be visible on the menu bar when we are actually using it.

But we don't want to always link to AtheneLive.  We would like to host streaming sessions from other places, too.  So, we're asking you all for your input and ideas.  What kind of subject material would you like to see us cover, and where would you suggest we get the streaming content for it from?

Note - that while we might have to get permission to do the embeds sometimes, it is not important for our members to be connected to these other sites in any way except visually.  In other words, the streaming content, (whatever it might be,)  will simply be something that our members can watch together here on this site and chat with each other about. There is no requirement that they be able to interact with anybody on the host's site. So, in that sense, it will be a little bit like watching a television show here together.

The content can be anything, really; even just something funny and entertaining sometimes.  I mean, I know that we all like to laugh; and since this will only be a 'once-in-a-while' thing, I don't think that an hour of pure entertainment on the site every so often will take anything away from what we're really all about.

So anyway, what we need are ideas; and suggestions; and links.  And especially Where to get the streams from?

So sound off and let us know what you think and give us some input.  This is your community, after all.  What would you guys like to see us put on that new page once in a while?

Stuff from this guy ;)

Above:

His ongoing project that I think I Power will support once it is released ;)

I could do some kind of workout-lifestream for the lols, if we need basic entertainment xD

Well as I said in the chat! I think a truely hardcore subjects would be Sociolinguistics and Neurosociology!! For me this is where we really can begin too see what factors that influence us. In fact if more agree with me, I would like too have a forum section dedicated too this area.

I think that these would fit perfectly in consciousness and neuroscience for now. I'm sure that forums just for these topics would be added in future if enough posts are made only about these subjects :)

Make some posts to start us off mate ;)

maybe some documentaries, that stuff is always interesting to watch and comment

Interesting... I hadn't thought of that.  Would be kinda like "movie night".  :-)

Everybody make popcorn and watch a good documentary.

If it can be of any help, a good collection of free docu's can be found here: documentaryheaven.com

They have an activists section.

Also FilmsForAction ;D

1,000s of films so far, mostly a big F YOU to mainstream media :D

What a lovely idea <3

I concur with the above ^  A document movie night would be sweet, especially if you implement a live chat during or immediatly following the documentary.

As far as entertainment, especially in the next few days.  A kid from Washington state has been playing 12 hours of Mario 64 everyday for 5 days.  I think he is going for 12 or 15 days straight like this.  But just yesterday I watched him beat the World Record for the 120 stars run.  It is REALLY mesmorizing to watch, because it becomes hard to believe that a human is behind the controller.  But the dude knows he can beat his new old record, considering he died several times and had to reset several times.  If THIS had the live chat that would be cool, considering about 14k people were trying to speak all at once while he was breaking the record yesterday.  He can be found at twitch.tv/siglemic

This is just An idea.  I figure with how many gamers are on this site it would be a nice addition =]

Edited post for clarification and added this:  "The link to the new "LiveStreaming Now" page will only be visible on the menu bar when we are actually using it."

can we put up these things on "events"? when there is some conclusion of what to see?

I'd like to discuss something that bothers me about people, how often times people condemn others for doing something wrong all the while ignoring their own transgressions. I'm going to use an extreme example of school shooters. Society condemns…See More
