Hey guys, I've been training Kyokushin Karate for almost 6 years now and another 6 years Judo before that. What I have learned from my personal experience is, that it doesn't really matter how strong your body is, but rather your mental strength is what needs to be reliable. The worst thing that could happen in a reallife battle is when emotions like fear take control over your body. Be sure to not only work on your physical condition and techniques, but also on your selfconfidence.

I've been a martial art practitioner for 3 years now and I have a basis in self-defense. I've never defended myself from harms way in long time, so I'm kind of rusty.

@Ivan everyone starts screaming when their eye is dangling from their face, it kinda takes the fight out of them. Good advice, I verify it. It's also a natural defense for men to blink when something approaches the eyes. The spot under the bicep is pretty easy, but I think you have to hit the lymph node under the armpit considerably harder to trigger a reflex.

Go ahead and support violence though, the nicest thing the mugger is going to do is take your money, so that's the nicest you should be back. Though I don't think you should go as far as to rape and murder the guy mugging you. ^^;

A very good tactic is to tickle your aggressor giving you time to escape or disarm him/her....there is a chance this won't work because angry people tend not to be ticklish.

(This was not serious if you were wondering)
