Here we will be keeping up to date with the Zeitgeist Movement and the Venus Project. If you do not know what they are, a slimmed down description is:
The Zeitgeist Movement proposes that we move AWAY from our current societies, and away from the monetary system of the world, i.e money. Why? Money is a barrier to technological advancement, is a barrier to freedom (the more money you have, the more things you can do, the less money you have, the less things you can do), it creates poverty, greed, and a LOT of waste.
An easy example would be: cars could run on hydrogen power - it would be much more efficient and a lot more energy could be created, and there would be no waste! What's hindering this advancement? MONEY! It is expensive! If there were no money, we would all benefit from this.
Another example: Companies could create goods (let's say a TV) that could last 10-20 years, or even longer! Why don't they do it? They want it to break down so you buy another one in the next 5 years! It's a vicious cycle. Do you see what money is doing? Creating waste, inefficiency and hindering technology. Destroying the planet.
The Zeitgeist Movement leads to The Venus Project. It is a project developed by Jacque Fresco in which he proposes a resource-based economy, without ANY money. Technology would be able to advance at its peak rate - everyone would be up to date. There would be access to all survival needs (water, food, shelter, air) in ABUNDANCE - meaning no costs, everyone would have the latest technology, live off of clean energy, etc.
Admittedly, it is very ambitious, and goes against most people's way of thinking, which is why it is a project that will be very difficult to realize. But every count helps, and if you can see through the shadows of the market and monetary system, then click to join this group.
