JOIN THIS GROUP !!! -------------------> WISDOM

Come join this new Group: WISDOM

Ok OK I know you want Wisdom! But the very word itself brings out the rebel in you!
So I want all to put in wisdom as they perceive it to be. Now we have history and
social mores and religion and lots of culture (such as art, poetry, prose, movies) that
in a way nibble at sending you information that may transmit some wisdom. But
questions remain. Such as....

- What the heck is wisdom?
- Why is wisdom so revered anyway?
- Who decides that it truly IS wisdom?
- Is all wisdom good?
- How will it help YOU, in particular?
- Is wisdom just another attempt to control you?
- Does wisdom really persevere through the generations?
- Must wisdom be relearned over and over by each generation?
- What are some excellent examples of wisdom?
- Do I get wisdom from genes or do I only learn it the “hard” way?
- By seeking wisdom, will I be a better person, parent, contributor to society?

I can't possibly answer all these questions at once. However together maybe we can.
And hopefully we will distill some wisdom that we have observed, learned, or
even created, into one fabulous list that will help ALL US WONDERFUL I POWER citizens!

Ok I will kick off this fabulous new group, with a definition of wisdom from the online dictionary, located at http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Wisdom:

wis•dom (wzdm)
n.
1. The ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting; insight.
2. Common sense; good judgment: "It is a characteristic of wisdom not to do desperate things" Henry David Thoreau.
3.
a. The sum of learning through the ages; knowledge: "In those homely sayings was couched the collective wisdom of generations" Maya Angelou.
b. Wise teachings of the ancient sages.
4. A wise outlook, plan, or course of action.
5. Wisdom Bible Wisdom of Solomon.

I hope all that join this group, come in often and contributes some sincere, thoughtful “wisdom” that will help us all.

I suggest we establish some goals for us initially. Maybe we seek to distill wisdom here, over time, for our mutual benefit!? Sort of like a list, you know? Perhaps we can context the wisdom “basic unit of knowledge” in one or two sentences, and later categorize it.

Go ahead, go over and join the group: WISDOM

These Are What Have Made Me Happy In My Life Thus Far .......

Posted on December 27, 2009 at 6:13pm 5 Comments

Mainly small things have made me happy. Such as my first Electric Train Set. Winning a bicycle in a drawing in my perfect home town in Western Pennsylvania. Hiking the hills around my home town. An award in 8th grade at St. Mary's for Sociology. My first crush on Joanie M. in 8th grade. Playing football. Building 100 airplanes as a kid. Jogging and feeling free as the wind fills my lungs with fresh air. The birth of my 3 children. The feeling of spiritual freedom while hiking the Red Rock paths… Continue

Les Paul - Root of Rock and Roll had died :(

Lester William Polsfuss, known as Les Paul (June 9, 1915 – August 13, 2009) was an American innovator, inventor, musician and songwriter. He was a pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar which "made the sound of rock and roll possible".[1] He is credited with many recording innovations, including overdubbing (also known as sound on sound),[2] delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording.

This video is being celebrated around the world now. I had to watch it three times to begin to see what it took to put it together. It's a song written by Keith Carradine and performed by artists from all over the country. It will be performed Sunday night at a Gala at Washington's Renaissance Hotel. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Please let me know what you felt and think about it.

Avneet, renewables are wind, sun, water, waves, sugar cane, etc etc. They usually do not throw off carbon related exhausts like current cars, and if they do, then the new effect is to absorb more carbon from the air than they give off. Yes the "cleantech" technologies are windmills, Solar Photovoltaic, Solar Heat, Water generators, and biological related areas, such as garbage that throws off methane. The methane can be put into a large sized fuel cell and generate electricity. The need now is to move to a whole new "energy carrier" such as hydrogen and away from carbon carriers such as gasoline, diesel, natural gas, and coal. Hydrogen is created by passing direct current through water which creates clean hydrogen and clean oxygen; this direct current is created by photovoltaic cells that directly convert solar radiation to electricity. Hydrogen can be compressed and moved in high technology tanks to where it is needed, usually fuel stations or neighborhood storage to be recoverted back to electricity via fuel cells. California is currently planning a "hydrogen highway" for modern fuel cell / electric drive cars. google it...
