Intentions, Actions, and Activism

Posted on July 23, 2012 at 5:46pm 3 Comments

I’ve met a lot of people with good intentions in the last several years. These were smart, well-meaning, and generally evolved people. They were thinkers, and they thought a lot. Something thinkers like to do is talk. They talk with other thinkers, and exchange more data to think about. They pick apart every detail of something and find every possible fault or weakness in an idea, and they tweak the original idea again and again attempting to reach perfection.

Kicking my own butt

Posted on July 20, 2011 at 6:36pm 2 Comments

Sometimes I really want to kick my own rear-end. I have a lot of character flaws that give me a great deal of grief and I have lost a lot of friends over them. I have been defined by my flaws instead of my qualities for a long time. The real question is what am I going to do about it?

Finding Inspiration

Posted on July 13, 2011 at 4:41pm 4 Comments

I've always been a bit of a pessimist. In fact it has caused me a good deal of grief over the years. One of the primary weaknesses of a pessimist in my opinion is that we tend to defeat ourselves before we even begin something. I have been trying to write a book now for the last two years, but every time I get started I end up calling it quits and throwing the whole idea out. I will get a few chapters in, develop characters that are interesting, tell myself I suck at writing and give…

Conflict at Work and Home

Posted on June 14, 2011 at 5:49pm 0 Comments

In any workplace where you are required to interact with other employees it is inevitable that at one time or another, some sort of conflict will arise between two or more of them. For a leader within an organization the question isn’t how to avoid these conflicts but becomes how to deal with the conflict in a way that minimizes the damage to morale, and the likelihood of repeated conflict. I have already covered some of the main causes of conflict in my previous posts “Drama”, and…
