Self Acceptance vs Self Development Paradox: How to Use Self Acceptance to Fuel your Development

"Thanks for your post. A couple of years ago, I myself went "insane" (depressed) for not accepting myself. Then my world fell apart. So that's why I agree that self acceptance is step one towards self development."

About Me:
I'm a sophomore at UC Berkeley and looking to find a network of individuals who are also committed to self-development. I have been practicing self-development for 2 years now and take the concept of 'Right Action' and 'Life of High Fidelity' to the fullest extent. I am a very spiritual person, not necessarily pertaining to any specific religion, and love to question the nature of the universe and other abstruse philosophical topics. I am also very physically active and push my body to the fullest extent in jiu-jitsu, lifting, running, skiing, and swimming. I friggen love women and mingling is definitely one of my favorite hobbies, and at this stage in my life I do not believe in monogamy ;) I've had a pretty crazy past like everyone, but have risen into a happy, successful man who will no doubt make a difference. :)
Favorite music:
Dubstep, Electronic, Rap, Rock
Favorite books:
Fountainhead- Ayn Rand
The Power of Now- Eckhart Tolle
A New Earth- Eckhart Tolle
Mastery- George Leonard
Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment- Jed McKenna
Life of Pi- Yann Martel
Awaken the Giant Within- Anthony Robbins
Goals/Projects/Aspirations:
My goal is to create a revolutionary self-help company that is bigger than Tony Robbins. I am currently working on a project that maps the blueprint of a "winner" or "high-value person"'s mind that is reflective of what I am personally trying to achieve. On top of this I am creating a self-development club at my university where my friend and I will give small lectures open to discussion as I continue to cultivate the traits and qualities that I desire.

"Well I AM essentially talking about opinion.  Because really - that is all there is. Even if everyone on the earth agrees on something does that make it a fact or does that just mean they share the same opinion?"

"Yes I agree open-mindedness is of paramount importance. Even if you think you know all there is to know about something it pays to stay open minded about the possibility of new information on that subject coming to light."

Being right

In a sense I want to blow up the words “right” and “wrong”.  I want to banish them from my vocabulary.More specifically I do not ever wish to BE right. And I do not ever want to say to someone else “you are WRONG”. What is the purpose of being or proving oneself to be, right? And what is the purpose of proving someone else is wrong?Apart from some sort of ego based sense of satisfaction what is the purpose of these things? Can anyone give me an answer to this question? If someone says something…See More
