Give yourself a fucking break.

Posted on October 4, 2010 at 11:00pm 16 Comments

No one expects you to be perfect. No one expects you to be the best at everything you do, or be totally confident and secure in yourself. No one expects you to be happy all the time. YOU shouldn't expect these things of yourself.

It's okay to have insecurities, it's okay to be scared, it's okay to not know what you want. It is perfectly okay to FAIL. It is okay to look stupid. It is okay to feel stupid. It's okay to CARE WHAT PEOPLE THINK.

It's okay to quit. It's okay to give… Continue

I feel like shit.

Posted on September 27, 2010 at 9:00pm 10 Comments

Well, this isn't exactly going to be a cheerful blog, but for me blogging has always been about sharing honestly and not sugar-coating shit so here I go. Read it if you want, or not, it's more of a "getting it out" thing for me anyway.

Started college recently, was awesome at first. Now it feels like a drag, I get up at 6:30 and feel like all I wanna do is go back to bed. I get on the train with people I kinda know from college but don't exactly talk to. Beat myself up over…

Eliminate approach anxiety and all fears of rejection within 1 year.

I've been working through the exercises in Tony Robbin's audiobook Awaken The Giant Within (which is really good by the way) and I've written a list of personal goals and chosen one that is most important to me and I'm writing about it and expanding on why it's so important to me. I started writing it on paper but then I thought hey, this would make a great blog post and it would be (fairly) public too. No more keeping my dreams to myself.

Goal: Eliminate approach anxiety…

I often feel great. Like really fucking amazing. But I often feel miserable too. At times it feels like I don't have any control over it.

Stuff that makes me feel awesome:
martial arts training
socialising with awesome people or girls I like
playing gaimz like a pro

My state changes very quickly and dramatically, usually when doing one of these things. Doesn't happen all the time though. I can feel like shit all…

16/M seeking validation.

Posted on July 9, 2010 at 12:44pm 7 Comments

So I just spent 3 days at college after being home educated for 16 years. It's basically 3 days where you can go and see what the college is like before term actually starts in September. I was extremely sociable and confident pretty much the whole time. It felt fucking awesome. I'd never really approached random people and just introduced myself before, but in those 3 days it felt really easy. Like the new environment gave me the opportunity to create a new identity and be whoever I wanted. I… Continue

Yeah, I definitely hear you, that must be a whole new thing to deal with if you've been home schooled.

How big an impact is the social environment having on you? Do you feel threatened that you might lose your identity or really change, or is it just temporary confusion and small behavior changes you think?
At 9:43am on September 1, 2010, Dean Leysen said…
You, sir, should vlog!

Also I was wondering if being home schooled did a lot for you. I don't know a lot of people who were home schooled, so I'm interested to know how you experienced that, what effect you think it might've had on you in comparison to other people. I'd expect it makes a person less socially confident and more sheltered typically but that doesn't seem to be the case with you?

haha I suppose it does. The dedication to stay in it for a long time without becoming too busy to go to class. Becoming a black belt is only the tip of the iceberg, at least in Tae Kwon Do :3

Many institutions we take for granted are designed from a basis of mistrust. Skip school too often? Go to jail. Run that red light, even when nobody is around for blocks? Ticket. Movements around the world are finding new ways, flipping the model,…
