Selfishness, Altruism, and the Soul

This post is actually a very long comment that I constructed in response to a recent discussion thread on the site titled, "Is there an action that is not driven by selfishness?"  And I decided to turn it into a separate post of my own.

.

My comments and answer to the above-mentioned post & question are as…

Real Life Experience Points

Copy pasta from my blog, www.postdemise.com

Like video games? Me too. Ok, so that doesn't mean we have a huge amount in common, but it's a start.

Ever since I discovered 'Role Playing Games', or for those more gaming aware, RPG's, I was hooked. I could spend my time doing mundane tasks for hours on end. In-fact, I wasn't alone. Millions of people do the same thing every day four hours on end, from all over the world - World of…

Physical SelfDev: Sound mind, sound body

Sound mind and sound body is an idea that goes back all the way to Ancient Greece, you can develop your mind/intellect all you want, not a problem, but having the body keep up with the mind is just as important ;) *plus, you don't want to die because you were too out of shape run from those zombies/dogs/pterodactyls/etc.* The ancients *10,000 bc on up* did not need fancy gyms or overpriced things like crossfit to get in shape either, whatever they had to carry just weighed…

Drafting

I'm being drafted by the military. know i haven't been very active the last year but now i will be even less active. I don't really don't want to go, don't have so much against it either, it will atleast give me a chance to quit smoking, cause it's not allowed for most of the time there.

New Years / 20 Years Old Reflection

Hey guys, sorry this is so late, I did start writing this and lost a few paragraphs which I'm gutted about because I actually liked them. I've tried to write this a few times before and never thought it was good enough to post. I finally had a version on the go I was happy to post when my laptop got a virus. After doing some crazy stuff to get rid of the virus I managed to keep most of my files including the files for my website and all my music and some of the scripts for my production…

Introduction (Blog #1)

Dear members of I Power,

I'm glad I gave this site a chance yesterday. I had been hearing about I Power from Athene's channel for a while, but I never really took the time to check it out. After about three to four years I'm finally here and I realise I should've been here way earlier.

To understand I Power I watched the four video's on the site, posted by Reese. I took the time to meditate while thinking about the four thoughts Reese listed for his morning…

death by tipping, 2012

Welcome 2012.

Last year's music (for me) was 'cities on fire' (Blue oyster cult) mixed with “crown of creation' - (Jefferson airplane.)

This year? I hope to see BB die of his own ineptness. Of tips, to be more precise.

Welcome to the morgue, people. (No tipping allowed.)

The life of a priest's company... newborn, the newly (or nearly) dead and development stages in between. Development? Ha! Like these things every happen. Sex, for instance....

Sex. Connect,…

Small

It's so easy to feel small these days. So many things we want to do only to be slapped in the face by restrictions. Restrictions can be anything I guess. Time. Money. Knowledge. If you lack time, money and knowledge seem unreachable. If you lack money...you're screwed? Kind of feels that way right now. Working my way through college, doing both part-time so I barely have enough time to do anything outside of go to class, homework, study, and work. Always having to study things I'm not too…

Time, Art, Traps, Renaissance

Hey guys

A little while ago I was listening to audio tapes of Eckart Tolle and the power of now. He was talking about being present and in the moment. Like for example basically what he was saying is that we as a society are becoming increasingly obsessed over thinking about things, and making judgement that we fail to perceive the  the details in life. We fail to truly appreciate all that there is and all that there ever was. We see tree, but we do not see the soul behind the…

morals, iceland, 2011

7 pm my time; mid-night in Iceland. New year's eve.

Watching '2 lbs per person on the island' fireworks display over a roving web cam; a panner that scans most of the city for ya is taking up my time.

OK, so I’m easily amused. The party is city-wide, used to fund rescue work and a national event there.

From a land where cleaning up the city on Sunday (FOR FREE, BY…
