Needs Fixin'

I can’t seem to be able to ask people what they are doing etc. because I have an enormous fear of being annoying. (except when it concerns annoying my brother) I really don’t want people to think I’m annoying because I know the kind of feelings that go along with that, because I have a low annoying tolerance myself. What these leads to is me doing nothing and being bored and very lonely. I usually don’t care what people think about me etc. except when it comes to that. like shit, what do i do.… Continue

thing that made me happy!!!

well, i took this idea from HeSaid's blog where he challenged us to also think about what makes us happy. So i started to think of what makes me happy... i have a lot of material things.... but those never really came up (other than my pride and joy, my computer [hey, you cherish something that cost you 4.5k US dollars])

But in the end it's not so much THINGS that make me happy but it's how I use the things that make me happy. That feeling i get when i play with my band on stage- and… Continue

Rubin Hurricane Carter: Song/movie versus the truth

Myth #1

Hurricane Carter was "wrongfully convicted of a crime he didn't commit," and he's been "exonerated."

Hurricane Carter and his co-accused, John Artis, have never been found "not guilty" of the Lafayette Grill Murders. They were twice convicted, and twice the convictions were set aside on the grounds that they didn't get a fair trial. The State of New Jersey decided not to re-try them a third time because so much time had passed, and withdrew the indictments against… Continue

A Loving Lament

Why is it so often that people forget what is truly important. I have sat back so long and have listened to how utterly horrible peoples lives are. I’m surprised the suicide rate isn’t higher than it is. Annie Dillard said, “How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.” (Annie Dillard (born April 30, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is a Pulitzer Prize-winning American author, best known for her narrative nonfiction. She has also published two novels, poetry, essays, literary… Continue

Death From Above

Just some thoughts, in poem version:

I see the new moon

Of souless boys and there broken toys

Living like the day is in a constant end

Flying towards the sunrise only to find the night again

Yes, I am sinking

In an hourglass of thoughts

forget, what I’m thinking

I cant do it all for you

Cant clear up all my faults for you

Cant feel the rhythm of your rhyme

There… Continue

These Are What Have Made Me Happy In My Life Thus Far .......

Mainly small things have made me happy. Such as my first Electric Train Set. Winning a bicycle in a drawing in my perfect home town in Western Pennsylvania. Hiking the hills around my home town. An award in 8th grade at St. Mary's for Sociology. My first crush on Joanie M. in 8th grade. Playing football. Building 100 airplanes as a kid. Jogging and feeling free as the wind fills my lungs with fresh air. The birth of my 3 children. The feeling of spiritual freedom while hiking the Red Rock paths… Continue

Christmas Time Realization

So, it’s Christmas day. I sit here on my couch in my nice cozy apartment. My girlfriend Kristin is getting ready in our bedroom. We woke up this morning and “Santa came”. We gave each other our gifts. She is so thoughtful. The time and thought she put into my gifts was great. She really liked what I got her too. My family is all in Chicago. My home, the place where everything I know is.

As I sit here on my couch I listen to the Smashing Pumpkins. Ironically also from Chicago. I have… Continue

People's view on Sex Theory

So I finished seeing this movie Funny People today and their was a very interesting scene that made think.....

Their is this scene where Ira (Seth Rogan) and a girl he was going to date Daisy were in a slight arguement. Ira is mad at Daisy for sleeping with his roommate. His roommate is a star of some very small sitcom. Also his room mate was toying with him saying he's going to give him 10 days or he will sleep with her. Anyways, Ira calls Daisy a "Star Fucker" and makes an analogy… Continue

The problem with intuition

As a simple definition you could say that intuition is basically a set of programmed and automatic responses set in motion by the subconscious brain upon receiving certain inputs. If you come across a snake for instance, you don't need conscious thought to become afraid, your subconscious mind already has the connections to do that on auto-pilot. These connections can be genetic (through evolutionary learning) or learned (through social learning and experience.)

This is a system… Continue

Dunk Tank Clowns.

A little over a year ago I was perusing the glorious internet and came across a show called "The Dunk Tank Clowns". I decided to call in and talk shit Athene style and somehow ended up becoming the third member of the DTC. So a year later, new site, and still rolling on down the internet radio highway we continue our legacy.

Now the target audience for the DTC is a diverse group. Some people may be offended, but please understand this show by the title alone is intended to be a place… Continue

What makes a person believe...

I am not a philosopher nor am I a preacher. I only speak from the heart, mind and soul. What do I believe? Can I make a difference?

Remember the first time you fell in love! or the time you first believed in something...

Can a person create his own destiny, or is it already predestined?

I try to encourage my friends, family, and those who just need somebody. Are you somebody in need?

I believe in truth! Without truth there is only moments of confusion tapered… Continue

A Grand Triumph

SOOOO it's senior year in high school, the theme for my friends and myself seems to be "Who cares? GO FOR IT, It's senior year after all!"

Well this theme is what drove me to auditioning for this year's musical, West Side Story. I'm not sure how many of you have seen it, but it's one of my favorites. It's basically a modern take on Romeo and Juliet with a lot of singing and dancing and that sort of stuff. But anyway...

The audition itself wasn't as scary as simply waiting… Continue

Bass Practice

Hey,

I just completed a few hours of solid bass practice. Running through scales and modes etc. not really learning anything new, just practicing the rudiments. And once again I find myself facing the same old problem. I have ripped through the calluses on my fingers again. I have a feeling this keeps happening because my bass practice is so sporadic and hardcore. By not having a regular practice time scheduled, the calluses on my fingers are not always the same strength. E.g I… Continue

At the end of my rope.

I feel completely useless and unwanted. That's the best place to start, really.

I'll try to keep this short because I believe that I need to get this out there, but I also have an online poker tournament in 13 minutes.

I've never had a relationship. Ever. I'm 29. It's not for lack of trying, or not approaching women, or any of that. It comes down to the same shit every time: I'm overweight, short, and my brain just works too differently. The women that do get attracted to… Continue

A letter from my congressman concerning the Patriot Act.

Dear Dylan:

Thank you for contacting me about the USA PATRIOT Act. I appreciate hearing from you.

Shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Congress enacted the USA PATRIOT Act in an effort to enhance our nation's investigative tools and prevent future terrorist activities. In the 109th Congress, I supported the reauthorization of the PATRIOT Act (P. L. 109-177) which was signed into law on March 9, 2006.

The PATRIOT Act has been an important tool in our fight… Continue

How one can measure time.

I could not sleep, and usually when my joints don't bug me I work out to get myself out of that dwelling mood keeping me awake. Sometimes I wake the others in the process, so that's why I'm back on the computer again. :/ That's not why I'm blogging though, I just realized something about myself in the process of being interrupted. I measure time through music. I tend to do things in intervals of albums, or portions of albums, and that seems to make up for my lack of round counter or… Continue
