So where is my discount?

As some of you know, I got a letter in the mail that I made the Dean's list at school last semester. I did think it was cool and all, but I also don't see the big deal. All it is is a piece of paper and my name on the school website. Now "the bar has been set" as my academic adviser put it.

I have also become addicted to Game of Thrones. This is seriously the best show I have seen in a very long time. I love the dire wolves. I have finished with the first season and I'm…

College

I am approximately 2 months away from graduation at a college in Philadelphia (originally from Connecticut). I have completed college in 3 years (a major goal of mine) and now I am looking back at my time here. There is a lot of debate on whether people should go to college…

You can call me Mr. Morality.

Well I got my ethics final graded and it was a 95%. I ended up with a 94% in the class overall. In short, two classes, two A's. I am certainly glad the semester is over as it was very stressful at times. I'm thinking about quitting my job after summer and just going back to school full time so I can get my degree and start my illustrious career doing menial work for piss poor pay.

I do qualify for grants now so it will cover my tuition and books so that is quite nice. For the…

Hero

I have had this discussion with my brother in the past and I would like others to jump in. How do you define a hero?

I originally came to this question after constantly hearing that soldiers, police officers, etc are heroes. Not a specific statement just generalizations made to those professions. It always made me a little upset because I never…

You are not prepared!

If you get that reference I will love you forever, at least until you get on my bad side, then I will find you and hurt you. Any who!

I am impatiently awaiting my final grade in my English class. If it is anything less than an A I am going to challenge it. I do suspect that my professor did not take too kindly to me slamming patriotism as something I was toying with as a topic. I do know that after I I had mentioned that as a possibility my grade started to slip a bit. I end…

Ethics of Public Executions

Shiznit recently posed some controversial questions about killing and remorse,

so, this an attempt to rationalize just cause & means to develop a national sense of ethics on public executions.

I would be interested in exploring the ethics of establishing the due process and the regulations of instituting a national recall and referendum that would result in public humiliation and/OR execution.

Question:

At what point does a nation of law…

Greatest 250 year ever?

Are we living in the greatest period of existence?

I have pondered this question many times. I start to think back in the past 250 years (essentially since the formation of the USA) and then I go a little forward to maybe the past 100 years. To me it is remarkable about how fast society has advanced in such a short amount of time. Sure those things like the wheel and fire were all good, but to me I feel that these past 100-250 years have moved our species…

Selfishness, Altruism, and the Soul

This post is actually a very long comment that I constructed in response to a recent discussion thread on the site titled, "Is there an action that is not driven by selfishness?"  And I decided to turn it into a separate post of my own.

.

My comments and answer to the above-mentioned post & question are as…

Passion vs. Practicality Concluded.

A lot has happened since my last blog post. I continue to do well on my ethics papers as so far I have eight papers graded and all of them are perfect 10/10's. I am also slaughtering my English class with a 97%, but I expect that from myself. I am an English major after all.

I know in a previous blog I had mentioned that I was torn between English and paralegal as a major because of what they both had to offer. English for writing (passion), or paralegal (practicality) for…

Passion vs. Practicality

I am at a major crossroad in my life as I have some important decisions to make in regards to what I am going to do for a living. I'm currently an English major and I would like to use this to write for a living. Writing has been a passion of mine for a very long time and it has helped me through some very rough times in my life. However, I have also considered a career in paralegal because I think it would be more practical and something to fall back on if my writing career doesn't work…

Constantly Stepping outside of your Comfort Zone - Or my thoughts on Procrastination

Hi There!

I´ve been thinking a lot about this topic recently, as I, like nearly every other human on this planet, have been procrastinating way too much on what I do.

This procrastination has been going on and on and on, and it seems to be something that seems to be limiting me in my goals, and my happiness. Especially because I´m the kind of person that feels bad if I don´t do something or do something wrong...

If you really think about procrastination, and why it…

Class update and more!

Well, midterm has come and gone and I'm doing quite well. I ended up getting an A on my network neutrality informative essay and my overall grade for the English class at midterm was 97%. Going into my ethics midterm I had a 100% with four 10/10 papers. I ended up getting an 88% on the midterm and now I'm getting a 91% in that class.

I was originally going to do my persuasive essay on the dangers of patriotism but when we came back from spring break my English professor…

My journey

Hi, I'm Tamir, I'm a bit embarrassed to say this, but I totally forgot what this place was. I signed up to 'I power' a few months ago, not really knowing what it was for, and was so busy doing other things, 'I power' completely slipped my mind.

I just saw the "Who and What" video and almost started kicking myself. I LOVE "Athene's theory of everything". A friend pointed it out to me after reading one of my posts, which reminded him of that video (…

Am i living in a democracy?

This question might be hard to find an answer to, so i made a checklist, and did a thorough (it's a bit of a stretch of the word) analysis of my environment, and the state. I did this to see, if the people that's been making the laws, can be said to be true representations of the people.

  • Does the taxation law reflect the average Lars (since this is Norway, i'll swap Joe with Lars)? Check. It's ok to put taxation on income, but stay away from my property. Rich people like to…

The Best TED Talk Ever?

A supreme example of "thinking outside the box".  I posted about this boy back in 2011 and said that we were all going to be amazed at the things he comes up with; and I still believe it.
