Forced monk-mode

been a few years since my last blog post, but today i want to write.

I actually moved from Førde to bergen a month ago, i now live with my girlfriend, i got a job selling fresh fish. It's quite nice too sum it up, except that i have a lack of money. I've been reckless with my money and now i Have to go into monk mode, the real chineese-kind where i only eat rice and "universe juice".

This is not a permanent state of affairs since i'll get my pay by the end of the month but i…

Monk Mode Challenge Day 1

Had a really good day today, Woke up at about 10:30 this morning, meditated for 10 minutes then went for a good run. When I got back it was about 11:15 so I grabbed a quick shower and headed down to the train station (picking up a sandwich on the way), I had to go to the bank today because I turned 18 not long ago so I had to change my account type. After a quick meeting, I headed back home so i could take my dog on a walk, (usually when I take my dog on a walk it about an hour long and I place… Continue

Starting Blocks Please... (29/05/09)

I decided that i would spend the past week just being mindful of who I am, and what i get up to when I'm running on 'neutral'. Being objectively disconnected from my actions proved difficult and so I decided to just have some thinking time in the evening to meditate on the day, what I liked, what I didn't like and at the core of it, who I was.

I decided that, excusing the cliche, I'm not the man i used to be; I feel as if I am… Continue

Monk goals

Oki doki.. Monk Mode goals :)

Since I've started Parkour I have got so much stronger, physically and mentally. Don't get me wrong I'm not superman or anything but if I compare myself now to myself a year ago for instance I would see such a massive difference.

Firstly, my body shape/strength has improved alot and secondly my mind has improved so that things that would have seemed really scary to do before (e.g. vaulting a wall, etc) I now find fairly easy.

Thing is… Continue

What you thought?! We was done?!

All the monks in the hizi throw yo hands up!

I'm back in action and I've got life on a tight leash with a taser gun pointed at its crotch (I could just say "life's my bitch" but I felt like using a weird metaphor.) After a little interlude called flu (and catching up with a lot of work) I'm 100% back in gear, Reese and I are finalizing some stuff for the new I Power series and we'll be shooting shortly if all goes well. Despite having been sick I so far also followed the rules of my… Continue

Monk Mode April Style

Inspired by Reese's recent saga with Hard core monk mode, I have decided to commit to my own monk mode for the next two weeks, with special attention to the edges that I'm working with.

Some of these things are a part of my days already and have been for some time.. but I'm interested in stepping it up a notch, and allowing myself to be supported by community, since I do have a tendency to be super independent which is not always serving my best interests.

Elements of my… Continue

Monk Mode [Delayed post, my bad ;D]

This is not monk week, this is monk mode, so I'll be adding rules to my life one by one, for example at day 7 my room will be clean, I'll be done some homework and eating healthier food, so I'll be more self-disciplined, and that's when I'll write a blog about how was I doing, and during that week, I might come up with more ideas of how to improve myself. And what's most important - I don't think that this has an ending.

Self-discipline:

Mental Discipline

Mental Discipline

1. Empty your Cup

2. Know your limits

3. Conquering Haste

4. Go with the flow

5. Trying not to worry

6. Believe in yourself

First steps in achieving mental discipline, as being a former martial artist and other people like their takes time and patient as it’s much like a skill you learnt over time and experience. I’ve listed a couple of steps that I’ve learnt though my years as well as reading various self development books that can… Continue

Monk Mode - Day 3 Results

1) I will go to bed no later than 11 PM PST every night. [Difficulty rating: 5]

Another late night yesterday. So as I mentioned before a friend from out of province came to visit us. So I left work, and met up with my buddies, hung out and played hacky sack in the park, went out for dinner, came back to our friends new place to play Street Fighter IV, and left to go home while dropping others off at home starting around 11:00.
