I went on holliday to Krakow this week so i thought it might be appropriate to learn some Polish.

I had three days to learn polish before i went, and it was a good idea too. Most of the people i met knew english, but when going outside of the tourist-track it feels better to be able to explain what you want instead of waving your hands around pointing at stuff.

I managed to learn enough to keep myself well fed, but i won`t have any prolonged discussions about global politics in polish anytime soon.

Aside from that, i got myself a book by stephen hawking about quantum mechanics to read during flights and such. Without overstating my knowledge about quantum mechanics, i can fairly say i have a better understanding of what it is.

Now, as a goal for the four days left of this week i will finnish the book (i haven`t read it through yet:/).

Hey man, one of the best books I've read about quantum mechanics is:

"Quantum Theory Cannot Hurt You" by Marcus Chown

It has no reviews and isn't amazing but it makes things extremely simple.

Another one of my favourite books that should interest you if you enjoy studying physics is:

"Six Easy Pieces" by Richard Feynman

This isn't the version I have, I got mine in the UK, I dunno what version of amazon or whatever you use in Norway but it's awesome! There's a follow up called "Six not so easy pieces too but I haven't had a chance to get it and read it yet. Considering how brilliant the first book is, it will no doubt be amazing too!

btw I'm looking into the copyright/legal implications of basically scanning some books in and posting them online and sharing them. I dunno if I can get away with the copyright thing about it being for educational purposes. I think all books and learning resources should be free for everyone. :P

i think i will let my brain take a break from quantum mechanics when i`m done with this book. The first half of the book was quite fun, talking a little bit about science stuff and more about different religious reasons why being a scientist have been a hazardous occupation since ancient times. When i`m reading this last half it feels like trying to defeat the scottish national rugby team in wrestling. If marcus brown managed to write it down so i can understand i will certainly take a look at it in due time (when brain is finnished processing)

Condemning others to validate ourselves.

I'd like to discuss something that bothers me about people, how often times people condemn others for doing something wrong all the while ignoring their own transgressions. I'm going to use an extreme example of school shooters. Society condemns…See More
