Self - Dev Challenges.
Hi there, I wanted so present an idea/concept to you that I tried out for two months now.
I am sue many of you try to challenge themselves very often for self dev purposes. Normally the procedure looks more or less like this:
This never worked for me. I did make a goal, e.g. eat less for a month, and set a time, e.g. for a month; but after a week or so I would just stop doing it and after 2 weeks I would remember that I had this goal and then start with a new challenge. Never achieving anything.
I am pretty sure that the procedure works for some pple, but not for me. I am also sure that you could deconstruct the procedure and refine it so that it works better (e.g.: like this dude does). But well... it never worked for me. Buuut...
... I did find a modification that works for me, which I would like to sketch out shortly. It is a partner based procedure and the steps can be broken down into the following steps:
As you probably have guessed all the "magic" is bound in point 1 ;) I will therefore put some effort into it to deconstruct it properly
First of all, The time is always is fixed. Making easy to organise it and you do not have to waste time thinking about timespans.
Then, you have sparring partner, which is a control-instance and a motivator. The best would be if he takes also challenges from you. This way you will get EVEN MORE interesting dynamics into your challenges.
There is a price waiting at the end of a challenge. It is supposed to give a higher incentive and is used as a weight for the challenge. Hard challenges should have big prices and easy ones small challenges. If someone does not accept a challenge one can try to adjust the price instead of immediately giving up.
The goals/challenges are set up by someone else and not yourself. This some nice side effects. Firstly, you do not have to waste time about thinking what you want to do, secondly, you are eventually forced to do something that you would not do normally. Furthermore you never know what you have to expect in the next month.
So far I did two challenges and won some pralines and a book :)
