When we think of something worthless the mind might turn to a simple rock. Crude and unfashioned, you can find some variation of this object almost anywhere across the entirety of the world. In fact, the only level to which your average stone is considered noteworthy is in how un-noteworthy it is. We toss them, we step on them, and we kick them, usually without a second thought. But let me tell you a different story.

Approximately 13.4 billion years ago, upwards of a vigintillion particles burst out of a singularity in a massive expansion of space and time theorized to be the beginnings of our universe. Travelling countless light years across the universe these particles all came to reside in our galaxy. Some united with stars, others with comets, and still others remained separate in the vast emptiness of space before, through all their own various means, their stellar pilgrimages came to an end on the confines of our planet. On our planet these particles took many different roles, from dinosaur skeleton to bursting magma, and continued their Odyssey to witness the beginnings of life and massive extinctions, and virtually anything you can imagine. Over another couple billion years, these particles came to form what we have come to call your common rock.

In the present this rock and every rock is a geological story in and of itself, some our fossils, others we’re from drying magma, while still others were the cohesion's of sedimentary layers. Scores of minerals form each of these simple rocks, each of which shares a particular history in the mythology, history, and science of mankind. This simple rock is theorized by many physicists to be engaged in quantum reactions with objects quite possibly galaxies away, and has almost a trillions neutrinos blasting through it every second. Indeed, if all the energy within this rock were to be suddenly unleashed, it would destroy all life on this planet in an unimaginable release of energy equating to e=mc2. The simple stone is currently in interplay with a constant stream of light, bringing about its apparent shapes, colors, and reflections to the human eye, in a complex pattern that would take an artist hours to give the appearance absolute realism. In its future its particles will traverse the rest of space and time in a story no less incredible than the one that lead to its formation.

This is not just one rock. It is any rock. Not to mention a massive simplifications of the different facets of said rock. Everything is this complex, if not more, so much that if one were to study something far similar for their entire lives, they would never come close to fully comprehending it. In fact if one were to learn everything there is to know about this rock, they would likely be able to infer more knowledge about are universe than has been written down across the course of human history.

Yet at the same level. It is just a rock, no more complex than anything else.

We as people like to refer to things as such: simply. It makes conversation easier, and thinking a lot less strenuous. However, it is this that causes many boredom and depression in our lives, if we simplify things to much, they are no longer interesting. When done with people our acting as if others our simple beings with clear and obvious desires keeps our heads from hurting, yet, in many ways, it is the dehumanization, categorization, and simplification of people that has caused abuse, killings, and genocide.

I theorize that if one could understand even a single particle in its entirety one could understand the whole universe. Indeed a single word on how to live our lives could be expanded upon to infer all the necessary aspects for living. Are universe, in its infinite complexity, is referred to in English with a compilation of only 3 syllables, yet at the same time it is everything, your loved ones, yourself, everything you’ve every seen, heard, and more.
However, my mere 19 years of life is far to little to assume that any of my ideas hold truth. Nothing can be known, not even this. All I can do is guess.

Its not what you see. But how you look at it.

Absolutely... Though I'm not a big fan of the guy. Good intentions but misleading in his approach. His supposed scientific background is very fraudulent.

Of course in the spirit of this post I should point out that I don't actually know to much about the guy. And my opinion is based off very minimal research ;)

"Well I AM essentially talking about opinion.  Because really - that is all there is. Even if everyone on the earth agrees on something does that make it a fact or does that just mean they share the same opinion?"

"Yes I agree open-mindedness is of paramount importance. Even if you think you know all there is to know about something it pays to stay open minded about the possibility of new information on that subject coming to light."

Being right

In a sense I want to blow up the words “right” and “wrong”.  I want to banish them from my vocabulary.More specifically I do not ever wish to BE right. And I do not ever want to say to someone else “you are WRONG”. What is the purpose of being or proving oneself to be, right? And what is the purpose of proving someone else is wrong?Apart from some sort of ego based sense of satisfaction what is the purpose of these things? Can anyone give me an answer to this question? If someone says something…See More
