Discussion of issues in Athene's "God is in the Neurons"

Comment by The Shiznit on December 30, 2012 at 2:31am Wish I knew more about neuroscience sometimes. I do think I read somewhere recently, though, that there is not as much disparity between the left & right hemispheres of the brain as scientists initially thought there was; and, evidently, most of what we think and do is coordinated by neural activity that is kinda spread all over the place in our heads.
I'll see if I can find something on this and link it later if I can find it.
I do agree, however, that it is possible to both "fix" and also "rewire" our neural connections. There has been plenty of evidence for this, and I even have some personal experience with it myself as I suffered a stroke a couple years ago which paralyzed my right arm, and I found myself having to basically retrain my brain to use that arm again. And It took me about a year to do so, but I was eventually successful, and I can use my right arm and hand again now just as well as I ever could before.
Anyway, this is a great topic for discussion and debate. I hope you get some good feedback.
Comment by Gabi Sica on December 30, 2012 at 4:49pm I'm curious how we can build a world based on what they want so that the right hemisphere to the left hemisphere can implement external world work better? How can we apply the expansion of the left hemisphere? I think we as humans are on the right track. But can we shorten "along route" of this process?
Comment by Michael Ducey on December 30, 2012 at 5:30pm We do not struggle to find answers to questions or solutions to problems. Gautama discovered that struggling to find answers did not work. It was only when there were gaps in his struggle that insights came to him. He began to realize that there is a sane, awake quality within him which manifested itself in the absence of struggle. So, the practice of meditation involves “letting be”. (Trungpa)

Great vlog, Micheal!

Remember, Pilgrims, it is the right hemisphere of the brain that fixes broken neurons, not the left.. The left is useless for that, so you have to shut it down to repair yourself.

Broken neurons are the source of everything defensive and rigid in the world (and in yourself). The one thing you can do for sure to change all that is fix yours. SO, ya gotta stop talking and listen to yourself. It's actually quite a hoot.. <3
