ShareCraft | Gamers Saving The Real World

My first documentary style video so be gentle :P

Dammit the more I watch it, the more I hate it and think it sucks :\

Give me some positive criticism too if possible xD I would like to do something like this again in future if I think it's worth doing

OMG Tom!  This video is sooooo excellent!!!

Everything about it is great.  I mean, the story line & flow; the scripting; the visual aids that you used; and the sound quality... ALL of it -- Totally excellent.

No reason to be hard on yourself at all, buddy!

If this were a picture, it would deserve to be framed.  ;-)

Dammit man, you're making me have good self esteem! YOU KNOW I CAN'T DEAL WITH COMPLIMENTS! >:|

Joking aside, thanks. Seriously, I wrote about the kinda work on it in my blog and I dunno if I could have made it better or what, I guess yeah it was my first go and stuff but still xD I guess I'll never be happy with my own work xD I dunno what it is

</rambling>

I never would have uploaded this without the support of the i power peeps so thanks :)

I love it.
Thank you for making this.

Cool thanks :D Glad you liked it :P Please share it :) I want the message at the end of the video to go viral

Also addressing chat messages (sorry I wasn't available) I have no idea if I'm allowed to use Al Jazeera (news channel from which I grabbed some of the footage of the horn of africa) but if they say anything: 1) I can claim fair use on the grounds of non-profit educational and 2) I'm not making and will never be making money off this video (a lot of this is pulled content from other channels who I've linked in the description and annotations at the end of the video)

I hope Reese does approve of and love this :) They're a pretty amazing and inspiring bunch and I never would have attempted this without this site!

Really great video, but I felt like it was too long, I was only really interested enough to watch for the first 5 minutes. Especially at the start it feels like a professional video

@Sorlaize

So did you actually watch the whole thing or not?

Comment by Nathan Davies on July 22, 2012 at 7:24pm

This was very well done, and I'm really glad you made it.

Thanks Nathan :D

@Tom - Don't let Sorlaize's comment get you down, bro.  It's a sad fact that most people out there don't want to read long articles or watch long "professional" videos on YouTube.  That's why they commonly tell people who hope to have some success on YouTube to keep their videos short - like between 3-5 mins.  And I have to admit that I'm even guilty of this myself.  I mean, we've all grown up in the "fast-food" culture, after all, and we like everything to be neatly packaged up for us and given to us fast and easy. Then, too, on the flip-side, I am also criticized quite often for my own posts being too long to read. lol  But that's ok; and I don't let the tl;dr comments affect my self-esteem.  I try to keep things short & sweet as much as I can, but sometimes I just feel that going into lots of detail or that doing a little background story-telling is necessary, and so I do it and then let the chips fall where they may.  I know that I can never please everybody out there; so I don't try.  The only person I really need to impress in this world is myself.  ;-)

The video was very well done, and needed the 20 mins to tell the whole story like you did.  (imo)

So, again, good job, man!

@Shiz

I know :P I just wonder if he/she actually watched the whole thing...

I'm guilty of it myself when it comes to entertainment but this was documentary style so catering to a different audience in my mind. It's nowhere near as good as Reese's finale video for sharecraft but it tells the story longer with a bit more detail (although part of why I don't like it myself is cos it misses so much out)

Thanks lol :D
